Setting clear rules and boundaries
Children need to know there are limits to their behaviour and when you draw the line, nothing must move this line. If the parents do not set the rules for what is and is not acceptable behaviour and carers do not follow them, then there will probably be chaos.
On seeing a child behave badly, you often hear people joke ‘I blame the parents’, but in some cases they might be right! A few years ago we went our for a meal with another family, and their kids dived under the table to play and charged around the restaurant! My kids watched this and promptly joined in the fun. We now have this family over at home, as it’s a bit less stressful!
