Positive parenting
As grown-ups, we all like to receive praise and positive feedback, and our children are no different. If the child finds they get more attention from the parents by being naughty, then this should ring some alarm bells, as more time should be spent on praising the good things they do, rather than the bad things.
Negative spirals can start when nagging leads to bad behaviour, which in turn leads to more nagging. The best way to break this negative routine is to take charge, be positive, stay calm, praise good behaviour and use diversions if possible.
